Several months ago I wrote about using the black powder substitute American Pioneer Powder in muzzleloaders. I recently tested the powder in a Rossi 92 using 44 magnum handloads. I loaded the powder just past the spot where the base of the bullet would sit in the case, approximately 40 grains by volume, and put a good crimp on the case. Accuracy was adequate at 50 yards, and there was only moderate blowback around the case in the chamber which is unusual in straight wall cases. The powder works with smokeless lubed bullets as well as making a satisfying cloud of smoke. Video below.
